APFC Panel Details

Utility companies use reactive power penalties as a revenue source; although they do not show up in the first month, the penalties accumulate on your electrical bill over time and cause overheating transformers and under-performing motors as well. Our Automatic Power Factor Correction (APFC) Panel was designed around this reality of how reactive power correction is both financial and operationally necessary every day, and therefore we need to engineer the panels according to the load variation/deviation patterns; the number of capacitor switching cycles, and harmonic effects to ensure that the panel remains stable when in use.
The panels are designed to provide automatic operation of the capacitor banks based on demand instead of fixed assumptions through intelligent control logic. By defining step configuration, we minimize the potential for over-correction during low load and delay correction response time at high load. All components within the panels support long service life through the use of proper duty contactors, detuned reactors wherever necessary and thermal management considerations.

An efficient layout of busbars, suitable labeling of feeders, as well as sufficient access space around the equipment will help to decrease downtime while inspecting the panel. Where metering and monitoring potential advantages to perform a power factor calculation without having to do a manual calculation.

The APFC panel may be used for high energy efficiency applications that are commonly associated with process plants, utilities, and commercial projects where the operating costs are significantly enhanced by achieving energy efficiency.

If it is properly loaded, the APFC panel will improve the transformer loading of an electrical transformer, reduce the amount of energy lost from the system and also ensure that the electrical system is stable and in balance. In our opinion, power factor correction is not an accessory item, but it is an integral, controllable, measurable and reliable component of the electrical distribution system.
