Feeder Pillar Box

The drawings for the last mile of power distribution appear to be fairly simple, but if you look at the actual site, it is quite different. The cables come in from several different directions and the termination space will be quickly utilized. Additionally, each day, the enclosure will be exposed to rain, dust and harsh direct sunlight; therefore, we manufacture Feeder Pillar Box units that are designed for this type of harsh outdoor duty and still provide access to switching and protection for service technicians. The construction of the enclosure at Perfect Automation & Innovation is done first, then the consideration of installation and long-term operation come into play.

The enclosure is manufactured using rigid sheet thicknesses, a double door configuration, and weather-sealed gasketing to prevent moisture from entering the enclosure. The incoming and outgoing feeders will have sufficient bending radius to accommodate the weight of large aluminium or copper cables. The busbars used in the Feeder Pillar Box are rated to carry continuous current load and withstand short circuit conditions, while having properly insulated supports to separate the phases from each other.

MCCB or a switch fuse combination protects each feeder depending on the fault rating and length of cable. The front of the pillar box has phase indicators, feeder identifications and earthing terminals which allow the user to operate safely from the front of the box without being exposed to live conductors. Internal clearances also allow for safe no-fault tighten up and future maintenance.

The routine inspection includes checking isolation resistance, door mechanical alignment and functional switching. After installation has taken place the feeder pillar box will provide consistent outdoor distribution of electrical power to lighting, services and equipment auxiliary load for many years to come, under varying weather conditions.
