VFD Panel Details

The majority of electric motors at real-world production facilities vary in speed due to process changes. Adjusting flow rates, varying line pressures and changing production rates through batching will all affect how you use the electric drive. That's why the VFD Panel is more than just a box with a drive; it's also a controller. At Perfect Automated Innovation, we design and manufacture these panels to maximize the electric drive's ability to perform in a stable and predictable manner throughout the full range of its operational capabilities.

Electric drive input power quality (voltage & frequency stability), harmonic effects on the drives and motor, and heat dissipation from each component are determined prior to selecting components. Drive derating (applying the drive's rating to the actual duty cycle) will be based upon both motor nameplate ratings AND the site ambient temperature. The proper method of isolating drives, implementing line reactors, configuring regenerative braking and providing necessary protective devices are planned for each component within each panel and are intended to help facilitate effective troubleshooting in an application where multi-day shut downs are a concern.

VFD heat loss occurs uniformly throughout most applications and therefore control of cooling is primarily done via predetermined ventilation and through internal layout. The control terminals are configured for an interface with the PLC; there are also terminals for remote I/O as well as field feedback signals. The display / keypad accessibility is adjustable to a convenient height for operators while they are commissioning the equipment or tuning parameters.

Cable entry, grounding and shielding provisions are designed so as to minimise electrical noise to the adjacent instrumentation.

These VFD Panel Systems are used in HVAC systems, pumping stations, materials handling lines as well as process industries to provide controlled acceleration, energy efficiency and smooth speed range variations; all of which have a direct impact on extended equipment life and production stabilization.
