Synchronized AMF Panel Details

Most of the time, the issue isn't actually a power outage itself, but rather what happens after the power comes back on—specifically how all of the power sources can get back on line in an orderly fashion without interrupting any of the loads that were already running when the power went down. Our Synchronized AMF Panels are designed specifically for this type of transition point, when the generator and utility line up together with respect to time, voltage, and load sharing.

By analyzing the generator's capacity, the priorities of the feeders, and the restoration sequence, we determine the best way to build the control scheme that will allow for the automatic detection of a mains failure, the automatic initiation of the generator, the automatic interlocking of the breakers, and the automatic synchronization of the generator and the utility once it is restored.

The Synchronized AMF Panel also continuously monitors voltage, frequency, and phase angle during parallel operation to ensure the timing of the closing of the breaker does not impose mechanical stress on the generator's alternating current (AC) or cause unintended tripping of downstream feeders.

Operator metering and status indication for source condition are displayed so operator can determine condition of source in seconds. Manual mode is available for maintenance activity with defined interlocks. Coordination of protection settings to existing PCC or MCC panels is provided to ensure fault clearing is selective.

The wiring of AMF is structured to allow fast troubleshooting for the majority of trouble will be encountered during an emergency event. Testing simulates mains failure, DG start delay, synchronization check, load transfer, and return of utility supply.

Synchronized AMF Panels are provided for projects in the United States where critical loads require no more than a nominal period of time for a manual transfer of the load, and the supplying of power to the critical loads must be controlled and predictable.
