LT Panels Details

Low-voltage distribution becomes a major issue when different process loads are drawing from the same source, as a small issue may propagate to all the other loads. In order to maintain a stable, easily readable, and easy to isolate distribution network during maintenance periods, all of our LT Panels are designed in this manner. This design process starts after a complete review of the connected load, diversity factor, fault level, and future feeder needs.

We do not use templates to "freeze" a layout because in most cases, plants will add equipment after they have completed the commissioning and start-up procedures.

The selection of incoming/outgoing breakers is based on actual operating current and a discrimination study of the system so that if one of the breakers trips, it will not cause the entire panel to trip. When sizing the busbars within the enclosure, we consider both the current capacity of the busbars as well as the heat generated by the busbars themselves.

Zones are kept separate for power and control wiring, which helps to prevent the wires from becoming tangled or congested during cable termination.

The maintenance department has provided metering and indication so that they can quickly review the load. Neutral and earth bars have been sized from actual site conditions where unbalanced and non-linear loads are common. Operator safety is ensured through proper shrouding, phase barriers, and interlocks on doors.

When testing is performed, all circuit breakers are tested for proper operation, protection settings are verified, and load indication circuits are checked for operation. LT Panels are provided for projects across the USA where: (1) reliable low voltage distribution; (2) selective fault clearing; and (3) ability to expand are required for uninterrupted operation of the plant.
