When bringing power to the field (area), it must be done in such a manner that a shutdown from the main panel will not be required to access and extend that power out in the field. Our LT Distribution Boxes are specifically manufactured for this unique (practical) condition, where there is not a lot of room available, and the loads will continually change as the project develops and grows. As part of the enclosure sizing process, wall mount height, the side of cable access entry, and clearance above door opening must be checked prior to proceeding; as these boxes are typically installed on service corridors, plant floors, and outdoors in utility space.
Each outgoing circuit from the distribution point has independent protection; therefore, in the event of a short-circuit in one leg of an outgoing circuit will not affect the entire distribution point. In addition, the distribution point’s feeder arrangement has been established with phase balance in mind; considering that lighting, socket and small motor loads rarely remain equal. To ensure all the neutral links and earth bars will have sufficient capacity to carry the real (actual) amount of leakage and unbalanced current, we will be selecting them for actual amounts of leakage and unbalanced current, not simply as a matter of procedure.
The internal wiring used is short in length and a ferrule is used on wires to allow for quick tightening if maintenance is required. Identification of circuits is done in such a manner that the technician has the ability to isolate a feeder without having to look at drawings for assistance each time. Spare ways (spaces to add breakers) are always provided because it is expected that there will be additional loads added after commissioning.
Insulation resistance tests, door interlock checks (if necessary) and full functional testing of all protective devices is performed prior to shipment of the LT Distribution Boxes. The LT Distribution Boxes are being provided for use with installations throughout the United States where safe local distribution of electrical power, fast isolation of faults from the system and easy access for service to allow for efficient operation day-to-day of the plant(s) are necessary.
